takes off with a Press Launch

On its Pearl Anniversary, Slimmers World International celebrates 30 years of leading the Philippines in promoting Slimming, Health, Fitness and Beauty with the very first international-level Miss Bikini Philippines 2008.

The competition officially takes off with a Press Launch at the Mandarin Oriental Captain’s Bar on May 7, 2008 at 6 p.m. Presented formally to the media for the first time, the candidates come from all over the Philippines. Slimmers World International screened over 300 applicants according to a stringent set of criteria, combining beauty, presence and personality to select the top 25 candidates. The top 25 have a chance to win a number of illustrious titles and the chance to compete on an international level.

Miss Bikini Philippines-World will represent the country in Miss Bikini World (host country to be announced on a later date) and will win over P500,000 in cash and other prizes. Miss Bikini Philippines-International will represent the country in China and will bring home over P400,000 in cash and prizes.
The first and second runners up will get P200,000 and P150,000 in cash and prizes respectively. Other titles and prizes will be awarded as well. Best in Long Gown wins P30,000 in cash and prizes. Best in Talent wins P30,000 in cash and prizes. Best in National Costume wins P30,000 in cash and prizes. Miss Slimmers World Great Skin wins P50,000 worth of Slimmers World Face and Skin services. Miss Photogenic wins P25, 000 worth of cash and prizes. Miss Congeniality takes home P25,000 in cash and prizes.
The Press Launch will see the 25 candidates take the ramp showing off their bikini best and will also be the venue for the important Talent Competition. The Talent Competition presents the candidates depth of skills. Judges for the Talent Competition are composed of select members of the press and the media.

After the Press Launch, the second stage of judging, the Pre-Pageant Night,
will be held on May 21, 2008 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium RCBC Plaza.
Coronation Night takes place in the PICC Plenary Hall on May 25, 2008.
Even before the Press Launch, the candidates have been making the rounds of Metro Manila in motorcades, forming what is probably the most beautiful and sexiest of picket lines, while advocating the cause of fitness and beauty. Candidates went around the Slimmers World branches, drumming up greater awareness for the Slimmers World philosophy of optimum fitness and beauty.
Slimmers World International’s Miss Bikini Philippines 2008 is the biggest, most prestigious fitness and beauty competition ever, with bigger prizes and judging at an international level.
